Mitten’s Home Appliance will host a special Military Appreciation Day event Saturday, June 16 to wish an employee well before his year-long deployment. Mitten’s will hand out military-style business shirts and grill out for the community from 11-2. Five percent of the day’s sales will be donated to the American Legion.
Staff Sargant Andrew J. Scheibe has served in the Army National Guard since 2009 and is taking an active role in the upcoming year before returning to his position at Mitten’s. Andrew has been a key salesman at the company for three years and has become part of the store family.
“We wanted to do this event for him because supporting our past and present military allows us to continue serving the community,” said owner C.W Mitten. “Our store wouldn’t be where we are today without those who have served, Andrew included. Those who defend our freedom through military service are very important.”
Members of the business have been part of the military for generations. “My grandfather served in the army during WWII, my father during Vietnam times, and another former owner (Wayne Radlinger) served in the Navy during Vietnam,” said Mitten. “Another current owner, John Sikora, served in the Navy, and many others have helped us along the way who had military backgrounds.”
Everyone is welcome to stop down and thank Staff Sargent Andrew J. Scheibe for his continued service.
