MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union (MMCCU) President David Murphy has been appointed to the Small Credit Union Council of America’s Credit Unions. This two-year term, beginning January 1, 2025, recognizes Murphy’s leadership in the credit union movement and his commitment to supporting small credit unions nationwide.

The Small Credit Union Council serves as a critical advocate for credit unions with approximately $100 million or less in assets. The council monitors public policy issues, evaluates their effects on smaller institutions, and promotes collaboration across credit unions of all sizes. Its mission also includes safeguarding the cooperative, not-for-profit model that sets credit unions apart.

“I’m honored to join the Small Credit Union Council and collaborate with industry leaders to advocate for policies that protect and strengthen the credit union movement,” said Murphy.

As part of the council, Murphy will participate in monthly virtual meetings and attend in-person sessions prior to the 2025 Governmental Affairs Conference. These discussions will focus on key initiatives that affect smaller credit unions, reinforcing their role in the broader financial landscape.

Murphy’s appointment underscores his leadership in the credit union sector and highlights MMCCU’s dedication to serving its members and the medical community.

Founded in 1965, MMCCU is a closed charter, not-for-profit financial institution that exclusively serves the financial needs of medical community employees and their immediate families.
