Mosinee vs. Shawano: Won 77-65

WIAA Boys Basketball Regional Final Scoreboard: SCORES and STATS

The Mosinee Boys Basketball team traveled to Shawano for a regional final game. Mosinee jumped out early with a bucket from Davin Stoffel to get the lead to 2–0 Mosinee. Two possessions later Garrett Shupe would knock down a three to lead Mosinee over Shawano 5-2. Keagan Jirschele with some razzle dazzle to finish with a mid range jumper. Mosinee up 7-2. Blake Nichols continued the hot shooting with a deep three from the corner. 10-5 Mosinee. Nichols was able to hit a floater on the next offensive series from 8 feet out to give Mosinee a 12-8 lead. Aidan Shaughnessy would attack the rim with some grit to finish with two more for Mosinee. Mosinee is up 14-10. Landen Thomer couldn’t be out done so he decided to knock down a three of his own. Mosinee now up 17-14. Shaughnessy would continue his first half hot hand by hitting two consecutive threes to put Mosinee up 23-16. Davin Stoffel would get a dish from the baseline and he would dunk it with some authority. Mosinee would have a 25-16 lead. Blake Nichols was able to spin and hit a fade away. Mosinee 27 to Shawano 20. Aidan Shaughnessy was able to hit his third three of the half to put Mosinee up 30-22. With under two minutes remaining in the first half, Blake Nichols would drive to the lane and finish at the rim. Mosinee up 32-24. Davin Stoffel would get back into the scoring column with an and one to push the lead to 35-24. Landen Thomer was able to finish a reverse layup to put Mosinee up 37-24. Mosinee was able to go into the half with an 11 point lead and the score at 37-26.

WIAA Boys Basketball Regional Semifinal Scoreboard, Friday March 3

Out of half, Shawano would go on a little run until Keagan Jirschele’s layup to get the score at 39-29. Jirschele would score the next two buckets with a putback and a layup to give Mosinee the lead at 43-34. Blake Nichols attacked the rim and got fouled and he was able to connect on both free throws. Mosinee up 45-34. Jirschele would continue his nice second half with another drive for two. Mosinee up 47-37. On the next possession, Stoffel would get fouled while working a spin move. He would make 1 of 2 from the line. Mosinee up 48-37. Garrett Shupe was able to connect with a three from the wing to stop Shawano’s comeback. Mosinee up 51-46. Keagen Jirschele gets to the rim again for a layup. The lead is now Mosinee 53 to Shawano 48. Landen Thomer was able to find space and he would connect on a mid range jumper for a 55-48 lead. Shupe would hit his third three of the night to give Mosinee a 58-51 lead. Landen Thomer would work his way through the defense for a bucket. The lead is now at five points. Blake Nichols was able to weave through defenders and he would deliver a dime to Landen Thomer for a reverse layup. Mosinee up 62-55. Davin Stoffel would work hard for a bucket to bring the score to 64-57. Stoffel was able to get wide open and he would finish at the rim. Mosinee 66 to Shawano 59. Shawano had to start fouling so Keagen Jirschele would get to the line and make the next four. Mosinee up 70-63. Landen Thomer would get fouled and he too would hit both free throws to put the score at 72-63. Jirschele would get fouled and he would make his two free throws to add to the lead of 74-65. Jirschele was able to hit one more after being fouled on an inbounds play. Mosinee up 75-65. Blake Nichols would get fouled and make the last two free throws. Mosinee was able to finish the game with a 77-65 victory. This is Mosinee’s third regional final victory in school history. Mosinee will travel to Waupaca to play New London at 7:00 on Thursday, March 9th.

Mosinee was led by Keagen Jirschele with 19 points while making 7-11 from the free throw line, 8 assists, 7 boards, and 2 steals. Blake Nichols with 13 points while hitting one 3 and going 4-6 from the free throw line, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Landen Thomer with 13 points while hitting one 3, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal. Davin Stoffel with 12 points, 4 boards, 4 steals, and 4 assists. Aidan Shaughnessy with 11 points while hitting three 3’s in the first half and grabbing 2 rebounds. Garrett Shupe would round out the scoring for Mosinee with 9 points while hitting three 3’s and grabbing 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal.
