Mosinee Boys Basketball Falls to Medford

Mosinee vs. Medford: Lost 53-69

Mosinee would play Medford tonight for a conference matchup.  Mosinee got on the board first after five minutes into the game with a Davin Stoffel assist to Thomer for two. Mosinee and Medford tied 2-2.  Stoffel would also get a bucket for two to get Mosinee and Medford tied at 4 apiece.  Keagen Jirschele would get a break away for two to put Mosinee up 6-4.  Landen Thomer was able to knock down a deep three and get the lead to 9-7 Mosinee.   Aidan Shaughnessy was able to follow that three with one of his own to tie the game at 12.  Thomer was able to attack the baseline and make a tough move for two points.  Mosinee down 14-15.  Keagen Jirschele was able to go coast to coast for a tough finish at the rim.  Mosinee 16 to Medford 17.  Medford would go on a little run until Stoffel’s bucket for two.  Mosinee is down 18-26.  Blake Nichols would get on the board with a corner three to put Mosinee within 5 of Medford’s lead.  Jirschele was able to deliver a great pass to Thomer for a layup from a great pass to get the score to a 23-28 Medford lead.  Mosinee and Medford would go into the half with Medford leading 31-23 over Mosinee.

 

Medford would get things going early in the second half until Stoffel would get a pair of free throws to put the score at 27-36.  Blake Nichols was able to get a layup to put the score at 29-41.  Jirschele with a tough layup to bring the score to a 31-44 Medford lead.  Aidan Shaughnessy with a putback floater for two more to get the score to 33-44 Medford.  Medford would go on a 10-0 run until Davin Stoffel would get two points with a layup.  Mosinee 35 to Medford 57.  Davin Stoffel and Jirschele would show some light with an alley to Davin for a slam that would bring the house down.  Mosinee 37-59 Medford.   Blake Nichols from deep with a three.  40-59 Medford.  Landen Thomer was able to hit a corner three as well.  Mosinee 43 to Medford 63.  Seconds later Nichols was able to hit two free throws to put the score at 45-63 Medford.  Davin Stoffel would hit two free throws and Landen Thomer was able to get a rebound and putback to put the score at 49-67 Medford.  Keagen Jirschele would continue to play hard to the end and he would score the next two points on layups to finish the scoring at 53-69 Medford.

 

 Mosinee was led in scoring by Davin Stoffel with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.  Landen Thomer with 12 points while knocking down two 3’s, 8 rebounds, and 1 block.  Keagen Jirschele with 10 points, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 3 rebounds.  Blake Nichols with 10 points while hitting two 3’s, 1 assist, and 1 rebound.  Aidan Shaughnessy with 5 points while hitting one 3, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks.  Mosinee will play on Monday against the undefeated Brillion Lions.
