Mosinee Boys Basketball Handles Antigo

Mosinee vs. Antigo  Won: 78-34

 

The Mosinee Boys Basketball Team was able to play a non-conference game against Antigo tonight.  Mosinee would jump out early against Antigo and go on a quick 24-4 run to start the game.  For most of the first half, Mosinee would have to pressure Antigo to push the tempo and get the flow of the game into Mosinee’s style of basketball.  Going into the half, Mosinee was led in scoring by Landen Thomer with 10 points, Keagen Jirschele with 9 points, Treve Stoffel with 8 points, Sebastian Andersen with 4 points, Cole Kowalski with 4 points, David Haskin with 2 points, Andrew Carlson with 2 points, and Aidan Shaughnessy with 2 points.

Coming out of the half, Mosinee continued the pressure and began to put the game away.  Mosinee would provide the crowd with some fantastic defense and passing.  The game would end with Mosinee winning 78-34.  This win puts Mosinee in sole possession of first place in the conference with a 7-1 record, while Medford and Rhinelander are tied for second place with a 6-2 record.  Mosinee is 15-3 overall on the season with six games remaining in the regular season.  The team was led tonight by Keagen Jirschele with 18 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals while hitting one 3.  Landen Thomer contributed another double-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks.  Aidan Shaughnessy added 12 points, 4 assists, 1 rebound, and 2 blocks while hitting two 3’s.  Cole Kowalski added 9 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal while hitting two 3’s.  Treve Stoffel provided 8 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal.  Andrew Carlson added 4 points and 4 rebounds, and David Haskin contributed 4 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, and 1 steal.  Sebastian Andersen added 4 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.  Gavin Chmiel added 3 points, 1 rebound, and 1 steal.  Trent Gorski rounded out the scoring with 2 points and 1 rebound.  Mosinee will travel to Northland Pines on Tuesday for a conference game.
