Mosinee Boys Basketball Slips Past Brillion

Mosinee vs. Brillion  Won:  60-59

What a great night for basketball for the Mosinee boys basketball team as they took on the #6 ranked Division 3 and reigning champions, Brillion.  Mosinee would win tonight with a score of 60-59.   The boys would jump out to an early 11-2 lead in the first 4 minutes of the game.  After a timeout by Brillion, they would settle down and take the lead towards the end of the first half.  Mosinee would go on a little run of their own and they would take the lead going into half, 30-28.  Mosinee would be led at half by Landen Thomer with 15 points, Treve Stoffel with 8 points, Aidan Shaughnessy with 3 points, Cole Kowalski with 2 points, and Keagen Jirschele with 2 points.

Out of half, Mosinee would quickly be down by 6 points.  The two teams would battle back and forth the entire second half as there would be multiple lead changes.  Mosinee would take the lead by 2 with a Landen Thomer 3-point shot with less than two minutes left of the game.  Mosinee and Brillion would battle back and forth with seconds remaining.  The Mosinee boys would have the opportunity to hit some free throws, but would not capitalize.  Brillion would get the ball with 8 seconds left on their half of the court.  They would inbound the ball and Keagen Jirschele would get the steal to help  to seal the win with 5 seconds left in the game.  Mosinee would inbound the ball and Brillion would foul them with 2.9 seconds left.  Mosinee would miss the free throw and Brillion would get a shot from half-court to try and win the game, but they would miss.  Mosinee won the game with a score of 60-59.  Mosinee was led in scoring by Landen Thomer with 25 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists while hitting two 3’s for the night.  Treve Stoffel would provide Mosinee with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal.  Keagen Jirschele would add 8 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals with the last one sealing the win for Mosinee.  Aidan Shaughnessy would add 5 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound while hitting one 3 along with taking 2 charges.  Cole Kowalski added 4 points, 2 assists, and 1 steal.  Sebastian Andersen rounded out the scoring with 3 points, 1 rebound, and 1 steal.
