Mosinee Boys Defeat Lakeland in Regular Season Finale

Mosinee finally was able to play their last conference game on the road against Lakeland. This was an offensive battle throughout the entire game. Mosinee got on the board early with a Davin Stoffel power move for an easy two. Stoffel was fouled on the next offensive possession and he made 1 or 2 from the line to put the score at 3-2 Mosinee. Landen Thomer was able to finish at the rim with a hard-fought layup to get Mosinee within two of the lead at 5-7. Stoffel was active by the basket and he would get fouled going up for a shot. He would connect on both free throws to put the score even at 7’s. David Haskin would knock down a deep three to tie the game at 10 apiece. Keagen Jirschele would get things going offensively for himself with a mid-range jumper. Mosinee 12 to Lakeland 13.

Stoffel continued his tough play with an and-one finish. Mosinee 15 to Lakeland 16. Landen Thomer followed Stoffel with an and one of his own to put Mosinee in the lead 18-16. Haskin would knock down his second three of the night. Mosinee up 21-18. Davin Stoffel was able to get an offensive rebound and a putback to put Mosinee up 23-18. Garrett Shupe with a contested layup to keep Mosinee with the lead at 25-22. Stoffel was able to get another layup for a 27-22 lead. David Haskin would continue his hot shooting with another made three. He put Mosinee up 30-24. Shupe would get a layup off an inbound play to push the lead to 8 points. Blake Nichols then hit a tough three with a defender in his face right before the half. Mosinee up 35-26. Mosinee would go into the half with the lead at 35-28.

Out of the half, Mosinee was able to free up Garrett Shupe for a three at the top of the key to get the score to 38-31 Keagan Jirschele followed that last three with one of his own in transition. 41-31 Mosinee lead. Landen Thomer would hit 1 or 2 at the line to get the score to 42-34. Blake Nichols was able to attack the rim for an and-one. Mosinee up 45-34. Davin Stoffel with another layup. Mosinee up 47-34. Landen Thomer was able to break the zone with a lay-in of his own. Mosinee is leading 49-34. Lakeland would make a little run until Thomer’s fade-away midrange jumper for two. Mosinee up 51-40. Aidan Shaughnessy got on the board with a rhythm three. Mosinee 54-40. Landen Thomer with a layup off an assist from Jirschele. Mosinee up 56-43. Thomer would make it 58-43 with a six-foot jumper. Haskin with his fourth three of the night. Mosinee up 61-47. Haskin was able to get a layup after a miss for two more. Mosinee 63 to Lakeland 47. Davin was able to get a transition dunk for a 65-47 lead. Nichols was fouled while going to the rim. He would make 1 of 2 at the line for a 66-47 lead. Jirschele would take over the next three possessions with 1 of 2 from the line, a left-handed layup, and a mid-range jumper. Mosinee 71 to Lakeland 54. Davin Stoffel with a step-thru floater for two. Mosinee 73-54. Stoffel would make it 75-56 with a finish at the rim. David Haskins got another layup and Mosinee would lead 77-59. Davin Stoffel would get a double-clutch dunk from the baseline to put Mosinee up 79-59. Garrett Shupe was able to knock down a three from the top of the key. Mosinee 82 to Lakeland 63. Treve Stoffel was able to get open in the corner for a deep three. Mosinee up 85-65. Ben Peterson was able to finish out the scoring for Mosinee with a bucket. Mosinee would win the game 87-71.

Mosinee’s conference record would end up 8-4 for the season while their overall record was 17-7. Mosinee was led by Davin Stoffel with 22 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, and 1 block. David Haskin with 16 points while hitting four 3’s, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Landen Thomer added 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots. Keagan Jirschele added 10 points while hitting one 3, 12 assists, and 2 rebounds. Garrett Shupe added 10 points while hitting two 3’s, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Blake Nichols added 7 points while hitting one 3, 2 boards, and 1 assist. Treve Stoffel added 3 points while hitting one 3 and grabbing 2 boards. Aidan Shaughnessy hit one 3 for three points along with 1 assist. Ben Peterson added two points for the game as well. Mosinee will play Friday night for their first regional game in Mosinee against Merrill at 7 pm. Looking forward to seeing many of you at the game.
