Mosinee Boys Hockey Voted OnFocus Team of the Week, February 19 to February 25

Voting for the OnFocus Team of the Week, February 19 to February 25 saw voters come out in big numbers to support the top performances by area teams.

Mosinee Boys Hockey was voted OnFocus Team of the Week, February 19 to February 25, collecting 551 votes.

Second place went to Medford Gymnastics with 389 votes. Third place was earned by Phillips Girls Basketball with 298 votes.

Fourth place was earned by Marshfield Girls and Boys Wrestling with 203 votes. Fifth place was picked up by Assumption Girls Basketball, with 128 votes.

OnFocus Team of the Week, February 19 to February 25

• Medford Gymnastics – Medford took first at the Antigo Division 2 Gymnastics Sectional, and is headed to the WIAA State Gymnastics Meet. Medford Gymnasts will compete on both Friday and Saturday at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln.
• Mosinee Boys Hockey – Mosinee is headed to the WIAA State Hockey Playoffs, picking up two big wins over GNC rivals. Mosinee downed Rhinelander 3-1 in the sectional semifinal before picking up a 2-1 win over Lakeland in the Sectional Final on Saturday.
• Marshfield Boys/Girls Wrestling – Six Tigers landed spots on the podium at the WIAA Boys and Girls State Individual Wrestling Championships on Saturday:  Ava Gardner(2nd, #100), Jon Sternweise(5th, #106), Brett Franklin(4th, #138), Hoyt Blaskowski(5th, #145), Caleb Dennee(2nd, #152) Garrett Willuweit(2nd, #160)
• Phillips Girls Basketball – The Loggers advanced to sectional play with a pair of wins this week in regional play. Phillips first beat Chetek-Weyerhaeuser 71-30 in the regional semifinal, then downed Ladysmith 65-44 in the regional final. 
• Assumption Girls Basketball – Assumption is headed to sectional play after claiming two wins this past week. The Royals defeated Port Edwards 60-39 Friday evening and 67-55 in the regional final Saturday evening.
