Mosinee vs. Southern Door   Won:  87-82

The Mosinee Boys Basketball team took on Southern Door in the Championship game of the Green Bay Preble Hornets basketball tournament.  This game would be a crowd pleaser with all the offense that was put out by these athletes.   The score was close the majority of the game and it was never out of reach for Southern Door.  Mosinee and Southern Door would go back and forth in the first half with a score of 39-32 Mosinee.  Mosinee would be led by Garrett Shupe with 10 points, Landen Thomer with 9 points, Keagen Jirschele with 9 points, Aidan Shaughnessy with 6 points, Cole Kowalski with 4 points, and Treve Stoffel with 2 points in the first half.

The second half would provide everybody in the building with some great offensive output by multiple players.  Southern Door’s guard showed why he is one of the best scorers in the state with his ability to get the rim and finish.  He would lead all scorers with 45 points for the night.  However, Mosinee would have more fire power and not only match his effort, but showed their ability to battle through some adversity.  Mosinee would jump out to a 10 point lead at one point in the second half to only see it get down to two points with 30 seconds left in the game.  In the end, Mosinee would have clutch free throws and buckets by Keagen Jirschele and Landen Thomer to put Mosinee over Southern Door 87-82.  Mosinee would have contributions from many of the boys between scoring and defense tonight.  Mosinee was led in scoring for the second night in a row by Keagen Jirschele who had a monster night with 35 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block while going 6 for 8 at the free throw line and hitting three 3’s.  Landen Thomer continued his solid play for the season with another double-double.  Landen would provide 21 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals, and 2 rebounds while going 4

for 4 at the free throw line and hitting one 3.  Garrett Shupe would have himself a double-double as well with 12 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, and 1 steal while hitting two 3’s.  Aidan Shaughnessy would continue his hot shooting from the outside while contributing 9 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block while hitting three 3’s. Cole Kowalski would provide the team with 6 points, 2 steals, 1 rebound, and 1 assist while going 4 for 4 at the free throw line.  Treve Stoffel would continue his solid play by adding 5 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists while going 1 for 2 at the line.  Mosinee now has an overall record of 9-1 and 3-0 in conference.   Mosinee will have the next couple of days off before they take it to the court against Tomahawk on Friday, January 5th.
