game summary by Mosinee Head Coach Matt Lindsey

It was a privilege to watch the game between the Mosinee boys basketball team and Kaukauna who is the fifth ranked Division 1 basketball team.   There was some amazing offensive output between the two teams.  Kaukauna came out on fire in the first half and scored 58 points with their team hitting 10 threes.  Mosinee scored 35 first half points and were led in scoring by Keagen Jirschele with 10 points, Treve Stoffel with 8 points, Aidan Shaughnessy with 6 points, Landen Thomer with 7 points and Garrett Shupe with 4 points.  Mosinee came out of half with a different look to their face and was determined to get back into the game.  Right out of the shoot Mosinee got a steal and scored on their opening possession.  Mosinee would score 59 points in the second half to Kaukauna’s 43 points.  Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to outlast their offensive production.  Mosinee fought until the end and the players left it out on the court.

Mosinee was led by a monster game from Keagen Jirschele with 34 points, 7 assists, 2 steals, and 1 rebound while hitting 2 threes, Treve Stoffel added a tough 19 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals while hitting 1 three, Aidan Shaughnessy would add 12 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal while hitting 4 threes.  Landen Thomer added 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists while hitting 1 three. Garrett Shupe added 9 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block while hitting 2 threes.  Cole Kowalski added 8 points, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 2 rebounds while hitting 2 threes.  Mosinee will take it to the road on Tuesday to play at Wisconsin Rapids for a non conference game.  Mosinee’s record is currently 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference.
