Masinee Claims 2022 GNC Championship

The Mosinee Indians beat the Rhinelander Hodags 8-2 to win their first outright GNC conference championship. Gavin Obremski started a 5 run second inning with a Solo home run, his first career HS homer. Then Keagen Jirschele hit a two run double off the top of the fence a few batters later and Tanner Unertl would follow suit with his own 2 run double all in the 2nd inning.

The Hodags would answer with 2 runs in the top of the third, but Mosinee would tack on a run in the bottom of the frame. Then in the 6th Taylor Lemanski would drive a double off the center field fence to score Jirschele and Unertl would drive Lemanski in to make it 8-2. Mosinee’s pitching was spot on again tonight led by starter Garrett Shupe who struck out 11 and walked just 2 in 5-2/3 innings.

Davin Stoffel would close the final 1-1/3 innings fanning 1 and walked none. Unertl and Jirschele finished with 3 RBIs apeice. Mosinee finished conference with an 11-1 record and improved to 21-2 on the season.
