Conference outlook

I think we have a very good chance to repeat as conference champs.  We have a lot of experience and talent at the skilled positions, we need some young guys to step up on the offensive and defensive line.  Medford returns a lot of experience up front and their QB. Rhinelander lost a lot, but I think they had the best JV team in the league last year so should be able to replace some of those guys.

Keys to your success on offense

Our key to success on offense is having enough of a run game to keep the defense honest.  Davin and Keagen are two of the best receivers in the state and are going to draw a lot of attention. We have two running backs that got a lot of experience last year, so will hopefully be able to put pressure on the defense.  We need to find some lineman that can create holes for our runners and give our new QB time to get the ball to our weapons.

Keys to your success on defense

We really have no experience coming back on the defensive line, so we need them to learn to get off the ball and keep the offensive lineman occupied.  If they can do that we have a lot of experience back at LB and they will be able to make a lot of plays. Our secondary only has one returner, but we have some good athletes who just need to get used to the speed at the varsity level.

Coach’s comments: anything else you’d like to share?

I’m really excited about my first year as a head football coach.  I have a son who is a senior, Davin, and another who is a freshman, Treve, on the team whom I’ve coached both of them pretty much their whole lives.  I am also fortunate to have my brother, Todd, join me after taking a few years off following his 16 years as the head coach at Marathon High School. I was his DC for his last few years there, now he will be my OC!
