Garrett Schupe has been a standout for Mosinee on the basketball court and baseball field, and is headed to NDSU to play baseball next season. We caught up with Schupe with our world-famous interview, Pancakes or Waffles? to get the inside scoop on the Mosinee senior.

OnFocus: What are your favorite subjects/classes and why?  

Schupe: I enjoy math and business classes, I enjoy these because they are going to help me in my future.

OnFocus: What are your hobbies?  

Schupe: My hobbies include playing and watching sports and spending time with my family and friends as well as going hunting and fishing.

OnFocus: Who is/was your first favorite teacher and why?  

Schupe: My first favorite teacher was Mrs. McCarty, she was the first teacher that made me enjoy learning. 

OnFocus: What is the most unusual food you have eaten?  

Schupe: Swordfish 

OnFocus: What is your favorite music to listen to?  

Schupe: Country 

OnFocus:  What are your plans after high school?  

Schupe: I plan to major in Business Finance at NDSU and also play baseball there.  

OnFocus:  If they made a movie about you, and your life, what would it be called?  

Schupe: Homegrown

OnFocus: What sports do you play?   

Schupe: Baseball and basketball 

OnFocus: Which teammate would you not want to be stranded with on a deserted island?  

Schupe: Mitchell Michlig, he would eat all the food.

OnFocus:  What are some memorable moments you have had as an athlete?  

Schupe: The most memorable moment for me was my sophomore year at sectionals for baseball when I got the save in the semifinals and then got the win in the sectional finals. 

OnFocus:  Who are your favorite athletes and/or teams?  

Schupe: My favorite teams are the Toronto Bluejays and the Milwaukee Brewers. My favorite athlete is Bo Bichette.

OnFocus: What do you enjoy most about competing in front of family, friends and fans?   

Schupe: I enjoy the environment, and how excited and how much the fans enjoy to be there and watch us play. 

OnFocus:  Do you have a funny or unusual moment(s) you have experienced in sports? 

Schupe: An unusual memory that I have experienced is every baseball open gym, we would put our teammate Ben Schlei’s shoes on top of the batting cage.

OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete at Mosinee?

Schupe: The best thing about being a student-athlete at Mosinee is how much our achievements both in the classroom and during our athletics get recognized

OnFocus:  What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?  

Don’t take school work lightly, it is really important to get good grades as well as being successful in your athletics. 

OnFocus: Lastly, pancakes or waffles?  

Schupe: Waffles
