MOSINEE – Mosinee pitcher Max Peterson limited Marshfield to just one hit and the Indians scored 10 runs in the final two innings to beat the Tigers 11-1 in a nonconference baseball game Monday.
Mosinee scored once in the first inning off Marshfield starter Ryan Krueger and the Tigers tied the game in the third inning to tie it.
The Tigers (6-6) would not score again against Peterson, who struck out two and walked three, and Mosinee would pull away against the Marshfield bullpen.
The Indians (4-2) scored four times in the fourth inning and added six more in the fifth, ending the game due to the 10-run rule.
“We have to be better squaring the ball with our swings,” Marshfield coach Jon Bauer said. “One hit is not going to be enough. Ryan pitched well starting off for us, but he was on a limited pitch count. We walked seven the last one-plus innings and it just blew up for us. We’ve got a lot of baseball left. We’ll bounce back.”
Matt Olson and Luke Spink each had two hits for the Indians.
Marshfield plays at Wausau West on Tuesday and hosts the Warriors on Thursday in what would finally be the Tigers’ home opener at Hackman Field.
