Voters turned out in swarms to support area athletes in voting for the OnFocus Atlete of the Week, September – September 18. 1,456 votes were cast, and each nominee received outstanding support.
Taking the title was Alexis Jonas / Abbi Martin / Jessica Maurer who received 482 votes.
Second place went to Ashylnn Grimm of Auburndale Volleyball with 448 votes.
3rd place went to Xander Hinker with 186 votes. In 4th place was Cooper Diedrich(171 votes) and in 5th was Aiden Kolar of Pittsville (169 votes)
OnFocus Athlete of the Week, September 12 – September 18
- Ashlynn Grimm, Auburndale Volleyball (nominated online) – Grimm had 10 aces and 52 assists to lead Auburndale in its dominating performance this week in quadrangular volleyball action.
- Cooper Diedrich, Athens Football – Diedrich turned in a dominating performance for the Bluejays in their 44-6 win over Wausau East. The senior ran 12 times for 244 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns. The senior quarterback also completed 4 of 7 throws for 97 yards.
- Aiden Kolar, Pittsville Football (nominated online) – Kolar rushed 37 times for 250 yards and ran for a pair of touchdowns in the Panthers’ 18-14 win over Rosholt.
- Xander Hinker, Greenwood Football – Hinker had 19 carries for 236 yards and 3 touchdowns in Greenwood’s 72-0 pasting of Tri-County. Hinker has collected 663 yards and 9 touchdowns in 4 games this season.
- Alexis Jonas / Abbi Martin / Jessica Maurer, Mosinee Volleyball – In Mosinee’s pair of wins Saturday at the first leg of the GNC Volleyball Meet, the trio had dominating performances. Jonas had 53 assists, Martin 20 kills and 6 blocks, and Maurer 16 kills, 5 aces and 19 digs.
