Most Safe and Dangerous States: Blue and Red States

So many states want to be known as “safe,” but our latest rankings reveal a clear political divide. Prepare to see a sea of blue at the top of our list, with all five of the safest states being blue states. Meanwhile, red states like Louisiana and Arkansas sit at the bottom.

My team at ConsumerAffairs has released this year’s new report on The Safest States in 2024. Our research team evaluated all 50 states and Washington, D.C., using five key metrics: violent crime rates, property crime rates, driving safety, public safety, and climate safety.
