John Hiller claimed a close victory over Theodore Ashbeck for the Democratic ticket for Wood County Sheriff, 2657-2547, at the Aug. 14 primary election. Republican Shawn Becker won 5104-2489 against Joel Flewellen. Becker is Captain at the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, while Hiller is a retired sergeant.
In the Clark County Sheriff election, Scott Haines claimed victory over Greg Herrick, 1818-1755, both on the Republican ticket. Haines worked for nearly 25 years in law enforcement before retiring in 2015. On his campaign page, he stated that focusing on the budget is a main goal to avoid unnecessary spending and reduce burden on taxpayers.
The election will be Nov. 6.
