Neillsville/Granton Wardogs Football Season Preview

Coaching staff

Head Coach: Reed Lehman (3rd year as HC for Neillsville/Granton)

Assistant Coaches: Chris Poeschel, Jason Kurth, Michael Gaier, Tom Bieneck, Jason Learman, Dave McDonald, Jamie Boyer

Offense:  key returning players

Some of our key returners on offense are senior offensive linemen Kaleb Walsh and Logan Erickson. We also return our top running backs from last year in senior Andrew Brown and Junior Micah Zoschke. Junior Bryce Erickson also returns as our starting quarterback for the 2nd year.

Defense: key returning players

Defensively we also return many key players in senior defensive linemen Andrew Brown, Kaleb Walsh, and Logan Erickson, as well as junior linebacker Jace Pekol, senior linebacker Garrett Learman, and junior defensive backs Micah Zoschke and Ashten Schultz.

Conference outlook

Our conference should be tough from top to bottom this year. I feel it will probably be a two team battle for the top spot, and anyone else should be able to beat everyone else on any given night.

Keys to your success on offense

Our biggest key to offensive success this year is going to be making sure that we get everyone to be working as one unit offensively, where the players are all on the same page and moving together.

Keys to your success on defense

Our biggest key to defensive success this year is going to be seeing how disciplined we can be this year with our eyes. I believe our defensive line play will be much improved as well which should lead to more success defensively.

Behind the scenes: Who are some of the people that help your program succeed?

There are many people that help to make a football program succeed. Some of these include my assistant coaches, the players, our athletic trainer, the athletic director, the parents, and I could go on and on.

What is your football program all about? How do you measure success?

Our football program is all about showing up everyday and being part of a team that cares about each other and wants to get better each day. This year we discussed some pillars/core values that we wanted our program to be built on and the players came up with Trust, Unity, Consistency, and Commitment. We felt that these are the things that will lead to success for everyone within our program both on and off the field. We measure success in our program by how much we improve each day and how close we can get to being the best version of ourselves and our team by the end of the season.
