One person is dead after the truck they were driving was involved in a crash on USH 10 by Resewood Avenue in the Township of Hewett.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call of the crash at about 1:50 pm, on Tuesday January 22rd, 2019. Initial investigation indicates a Semi truck, being driven by Daniel Esong, 38 years old, was eastbound on USH 10 when he lost control of his vehicle and entered the south ditch.
The trailer jack-knifed and blocked both lanes of the highway. A pick-up truck, driven by Bryan Acker, 58 yrs. old, was traveling west hauling a vehicle on a trailer when it struck the rear driver’s side of the semi-trailer and came to rest in the north ditch.
Daniel and his passenger were uninjured. Bryan was alone in the truck and was transported by the Neillsville Area Ambulance Service to the Marshfield Medical Center – Neillsville. He was pronounced dead at the hospital by Coroner Schleifer. Daniel was wearing his seatbelt. It’s unknown if Bryan was wearing a seatbelt. Bryan is from Neillsville and Daniel is from Texas.
The Neillsville Area Fire and Ambulance Service responded to the scene with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Marshfield Fire Ambulance and Coroner Schleifer. The Investigation is ongoing by the Clark County Sheriff’s and Coroner’s Office and the State Patrol.
This is the second traffic fatality in Clark County for 2019.
