Neillsville, WI (OnFocus) Special banners and cutouts are decorating the front lawn of the Neillsville Public Library to honor senior athletes.

While unable to participate in their spring seasons due to COVID-19, baseball, softball, and track athletes were recognized for their achievements.

Brittney Lowry, whose daughter Chloee is a senior at Neillsville High School and a track athlete, had ordered the banners and cutouts early for the spring sports season before restrictions for the coronavirus started to affect schools. Each sports season, athlete senior portraits are typically hung at the school or placed by the playing field.

“I figured we already have them made up, so instead of just giving them to the kids, why not figure out a way to still recognize them?” she said.

The placement of the portraits were approved by the Neillsville City Council and will be on display for the month of May.
