Nekoosa Boys Soccer Gets Win over Coulee Christian/Providence
Tonight, Nekoosa Soccer played Coulee Christian/Providence in our home opener. The final score was Nekoosa 5 – 1 Coulee. Had there been one more second in the game it would have been 6-1 on a last second effort from the Papermakers.
In what was a tight scoring affair in the first half, a half which Nekoosa dominated possession and scoring chances, in the moments before half, junior striker Jarret Wilcox broke the stalemate with an assist from Freshman Bryce Strobel. The goal gave the Papermakers a 1-0 lead going into half.
First year player, Adam Alameda got his first goal as Papermaker cleaning up from Deklin Christianson. Then, Sawyer Ostrum did something you should expect to see a lot of, scoring off a set piece on a beautiful send from Wilcox. Next, on a nice offensive sequence that tik a tak’d down the left side between Ostrum, Czappa, and Alamedo got his second goal of the night assisted by Ostrum. The Papermakers conceded a lone goal to Coulee as they began to clear their bench, before they turned the pressure back on. WIlcox closed the scoring with the Papermaker’s fifth goal of the night assited by Christianson.
