Nekoosa falls to Amherst

Amherst (OnFocus) – The Nekoosa Papermakers went on the road in CWC Large action and battled traditional power Amherst. Nekoosa trailed just 28-6 at the half but saw the Falcons pull away after the break to pick up a 48-12 win over the Papermakers.

Nekoosa’s Hunter Lochner scored on a 3 yard run in the second quarter before Amherst scored on a 19 yard reception by Ian Hall to give Amherst their halftime lead.

Nekoosa added a third quarter touchdown with Cordero Ysquierdo running it in from three yards.

Ysquierdo led Nekoosa with 106 yards on 16 carries, and led Nekoosa in receiving with 2 receptions for 39 yards.

Ethan Hoogesteger completed 5 of 6 passes for 62 yards.

Ysquierdo and Lochner each had 6 tackles to lead Nekoosa on defense.

Amherst was led by Bryan Groshek, who had 59 yards rushing on 8 carries.

Amherst piled up 463 yards of offense with Nekoosa collecting 258 yards of total offense.
