Nekoosa Girls Defeat Port Edwards

In a game of neighboring schools arranged on short notice, Nekoosa downed Port Edwards by a score of 55-33.

The Papermakers jumped out to a 29-16 halftime lead and then ran away with the ballgame after the intermission. Coming up big for Nekoosa in the first half was Kiya Kolo, who drained five three-pointers and had 17 points, 20 for the ballgame.

Nekoosa jumped out to a early 9-0 lead when Kiya kolo hit 3 consecutive 3’s.
“Anna Schaefbauer was able to make some key skip passes to Kolo on her 3 pointers tonight,” said Nekoosa Head Coach Scott Linzmeier. “Madison Bills did a good job of getting to the basket.”
Nekoosa had 9 three-pointers for the game. Madison Bills(12) and Kaelyn Chasenah(10) joined Kolo in double figures.
Port Edwards was led by Taylor Martin’s 12 points.
“After 2 tough losses this was a much needed game and it was nice to see the kids smile again while playing,” Linzmeier added.
