NEKOOSA, WI (OnFocus) – Nekoosa police officers have arrested Jason W. Tourtillott, 26, in connection with the 2021 murder of his father, Thomas S. Tourtillott, 58. The arrest took place on January 28, 2025, following an extensive investigation into the case.
According to authorities, the investigation began on July 22, 2021, when a Nekoosa police officer responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive male at a local residence. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, Thomas Tourtillott was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation later determined that his injuries were consistent with foul play, leading police to identify his son, Jason Tourtillott, as a person of interest.
After years of investigative work, the Wood County District Attorney’s Office formally charged Jason Tourtillott with 1st Degree Intentional Homicide. He is currently being held at the Wood County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
Authorities confirmed that the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation played a key role in the case. Jason Tourtillott was ultimately taken into custody in Wisconsin Rapids with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Marshfield Police Department, and Wisconsin Rapids Police Department.
