Nekoosa (OnFocus) – Like a cat plays with a mouse, Nekoosa toyed with Weyauwega-Fremont in their CWC matchup before steamrolling past the Warhawks for 56-13 win.

W-F jumped on top in the first for a 7-0 lead before Hunter Lochner scored from 1 yard out, and Nekoosa led 8-7.

W-F answered right back to go up 13-8 but Nekoosa answered with an Etahn Hoogesteger 2 yard run. The Papermakers held a 14-13 after the first quarter, and it appeared the teams were locked in a slugfest.

Appearances can be misleading, however.

Nekoosa then scored 42 unanswered points  the rest of the way, and it was Lochner who kick-started the barrage. His 1 yard touchdown put Nekoosa up 22-13 at the half, and then the senior running back scored from 4 yards out in the third quarter.

Michael Ringer’s 66 yard touchdown reception gave the Papermakers a 38-13 lead after three quarters, but Nekoosa wasn’t done.

Two more Papermakers’ touchdowns in the fourth quarter put Nekoosa on top 50-13 before the final touch was added.

Enter Lochner. His 27 yard interception return ended the game’s scoring, and capped off a nice performance on the stat line: 20 runs for 194 yards, 3 rushing touchdowns, an interception return, and 7 tackles.

Nekoosa outgained W-F 466 to 233 in the ballgame, and had 6 interceptions to thwart the Warhawks’ attempts to come back.
