The Kansas City Chiefs have had the largest boost to their online following this season, gaining an additional 2.9 million followers since September, according to new research.
KingCasinoBonus.com analyzed follower counts for all 32 NFL teams at the start of the season versus now. For each team, they looked at the combined number of followers on X (formerly Twitter), Threads, TikTok, and Instagram on 7 September 2023 and compared it with 14 February 2024 data to determine which teams had the biggest change in followers.
In first place are the Kansas City Chiefs, who, since September 2023, have seen their follower count increase by over a third (34.27%), equating to an additional 2,903,179 followers. With Taylor Swift and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce making regular headlines, it may come to some as no surprise the Chiefs have seen such a drastic uptick in followers. Over the course of the Super Bowl, from the 24th of January 2024, up until the 14th of February the chiefs saw an explosion in followers, gathering 1,151,695 over the period alone.
In second place are the Super Bowl runners-up, the San Francisco 49ers, who saw a follower increase of almost 25% (24.91%) – equal to an increase of 1,689,619 new followers. The 49ers’ largest following was found to be Instagram, accounting for 3,803,877 of their 8,472,466 total followers.
In third place are the Philadelphia Eagles, who have seen a follower increase of 17.72% since the start of the season, equal to an additional 1,612,528 followers. The Eagles have their largest following on X, with 3.8 million followers, followed closely by Instagram, with 3.5 million followers.
In fourth place are the Miami Dolphins, who have seen a follower increase of 16.68% since the start of the season – equal to 678,863 additional followers. Instagram was found to be the Dolphins’ largest source of followers, accounting for 1,874,145 of their 4,749,644 total followers.
In fifth place are the Baltimore Ravens, who have seen a follower increase of 16% since the start of the season – equal to 816,512 additional followers. The Ravens’ biggest social media platform was found to be Instagram, with 2.1 million followers, followed closely by X, with 1.9 million followers.
Sixth place goes to the Detroit Lions, with a follower increase of 15.8%, meaning the Lions have seen an additional 723,405 followers since September 2023. The Lions’ biggest following is seen to be on TikTok, with 2.1 million followers.
The remainder of the top ten features the Houston Texans in at seventh place, with an 11.62% increase in followers – equal to 443,832 new followers.
Eighth place goes to the Cincinnati Bengals, who, since the start of the season, have seen an increase in followers of 9.92% – an additional 501,884 followers.
The Buffalo Bills take the ninth spot on the list, with an increase in followers of 9.59%, equal to 510,412 new followers across their social media platforms.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are in tenth place, with a follower increase of 8.57%, or 185,457 new followers across social media platforms. Notably, the smallest increase in the number of new followers and the Jaguars’ smaller starting follower base meant they secured a ranking in the top ten.
Interestingly, across all teams, there was an increase of 15,474,843 million followers since the start of the season, from 172,413,596 followers on 7 September 2023 to 187,888,439 followers on 14th of February 2024.
The Carolina Panthers were seen to have the lowest increase in percentage of followers, only seeing an increase of 1.96% followers over the course of the season – working out to just 120,629 extra followers, bringing their total to 6,260,900.

A spokesperson for KingCasinoBonus.com commented on the findings, saying:
“It is perhaps unsurprising to see that the Chiefs have experienced such a jump in followers this season. Outside of the success on the gridiron, Taylor Swift’s romance with tight end Travis Kelce has undeniably played a huge role in amplifying the social media presence of the Kansas City Chiefs, by bringing in followers who would otherwise not have shown an interest in the team.”

Source: Instagram, Threads, X, TikTok
Methodology:
Followers for each NFL franchise were gathered for the social media platforms Instagram, X, TikTok, and Threads on the first day of the season (7 September 2023) and then again on 14 February 2024. Follower numbers were then combined across platforms for each team and ranked based on the difference in amount between the two dates.
