MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – GMX Real Estate Group has requested permission from the City of Marshfield to construct a new fast-food restaurant called “Slim Chickens” on the lot just north of Starbucks. The fast-casual restaurant chain specializes in chicken tenders, wings, sandwiches, salads, wraps, chicken & waffles, and other items.
The two parcels in question are currently vacant and zoned Community Mixed Use currently. According to City of Marshfield documents, GMX is interested in purchasing the parcels and developing them as a commercial use and detention basin. Since the applicant proposes an outdoor patio with a drive aisle across property lines, conditional use permit is required for the development. They would construct a freestanding restaurant and outdoor patio with a drive-thru and self-contained parking and establish cross-access with Starbucks to the south.
The applicants have had discussions with City staff over the past few months and have worked on plans for the site. The City’s Development Review Team (DRT) met with the applicants at the July 27, 2022. The City’s Plan Commission will discuss the application further at Tuesday’s meeting (September 20).
