Mosinee vs. New London: Lost 57-61
The Mosinee Boys Basketball team traveled to Waupaca Thursday night to play New London in a Sectional Semifinal game. Mosinee would come out early with some quick buckets and then New London would knock down some big early shots to give them an 8-point halftime lead at 32-24. Out of the half, Mosinee would make some defensive adjustments and outscore New London early. Mosinee would get within 2 points three different times in the second half. Each time they did, New London would have an answer. New London would bank in a three when Mosinee was within two points to put them up by 5 with under two minutes to go. Out of the timeout, Mosinee would get a quick bucket to get the score back to three points. With time running out, Mosinee had to foul and New London would capitalize. Mosinee was able to get another bucket with 1.3 seconds left and then they would have to foul. New London would go up 4 at this time and that would be the final difference between the two teams. New London would end Mosinee’s great season with a 57-61 victory. This season will be a memorable one with a 19-8 record and the third sectional appearance in school history. This couldn’t have been done without the fantastic seniors that were on this team who competed daily and are fantastic young men with very bright futures ahead of them. Thank You.
