New research has revealed the US cities that are most affordable for throwing unforgettable bachelorette parties, with Memphis taking the top spot.

Experts at QR Code Generator analyzed various factors, including taxi fares, the price of beer and cocktails, and the cost of a combo meal (such as a Big Mac) at a fast-food restaurant, before assigning each of America’s 50 most populous cities a score out of 100, with lower scores indicating a more affordable night out for bachelorettes.

In first place is Memphis. It costs $1.37 per kilometer to get a taxi downtown, where you can buy a cocktail for just $10 (tied for the third cheapest in the country) and a pint of beer for $4.43 (the fourth cheapest in the country).

If you’re in the mood for a late-night snack after all of that, you can grab a combo meal for $8. Memphis was given a final score of 8.14, making it the top choice for budget-friendly bachelorette parties.

Second is Arlington, with a final score of 9.99. Beer is even cheaper than in Memphis, at only $4.18 a pint. Cocktails, too, are cheaper; they are $8 as opposed to $10 – another great option for bachelorette party planners.

However, the taxi fare in Arlington is $1.71 per kilometer; and at $8, the cost of a combo meal equals that of Memphis, which isn’t enough for the city to claw its way back to first place in the rankings.

Wichita is next, in third place. The city’s score of 14.62 is likely the result of its cheap beer, at $4.39 a pint. Cocktails and combo meals alike cost $9 each, and the taxi fare works out at $1.55 per kilometer.

Louisville comes fourth in the rankings, with a final score of 17.08. Taxi fares in the city are quite cheap, at only $1.40 per kilometer, while a combo meal costs $9. This makes up somewhat for the comparatively expensive alcohol—a cocktail costs $10 and a pint of beer costs $5.23.

In fifth place, scoring 18.58 in total, is Oklahoma City. Here, partygoers enjoy the second-lowest taxi fares in the country at just $1.25 per kilometer. Like Wichita and Louisville, combo meals cost $9, but alcohol is costlier in OKC than in either of those cities: it costs $11 for a cocktail and $5.84 for a pint of beer.

Milwaukee is sixth, with a final score of 19.63. At $4.89 a pint, beer is cheaper than in Louisville or Oklahoma City. Meanwhile, you can pick up a cocktail for $10, a combo meal for $9, and a taxi for $1.60 per kilometer.

Tulsa places seventh on the list, with a final score of 20.15. The city boasts the cheapest taxi fares in the entire country at just $1.24 per kilometer. It also offers combo meals for a mere $8. However, alcohol is pricier than elsewhere—it costs $12 for a cocktail and $7 for a pint of beer.

Baltimore is in eighth place. Although beer is more reasonably priced than in Tulsa, at $5.49 a pint, a cocktail will set you back by $13. Taxis cost $1.37 per kilometer, and a combo meal costs $9; this amounts to a final score of 23.34.

At number nine is Columbus, home of the third-cheapest taxi fares in the country (at $1.26 per kilometer). The other prices are a little steeper, however: $12 for a cocktail, $7 for a pint of beer, and $9 for a combo meal gives Columbus a final score of 25.55.

In tenth place, with a final score of 26.64, is El Paso. Texans living here enjoy the cheapest beer in the country, with a cost of just $4.02 per pint – ideal for toasting the bride-to-be.

The city’s other nightlife essentials are a tad more expensive, with residents paying $10 for a combo meal, $1.40 per kilometer traveled by taxi, and a rather hefty $15 for a cocktail.

New York City has the most expensive nightlife in the country. In the Big Apple, a taxi ride will cost $2.17 per kilometer, and it only gets pricier when you get downtown. A pint of beer costs $10, a combo meal costs $13, and a single cocktail will set you back by an eye-watering $21.

Methodology

A seed list of the most populated cities was created, and a total of four factors were used to compile the index. The raw data for each factor was cleaned, checked, and standardized on the same scale from 0 to 10, where 0 and 10 represent the worst and best values present in the data, to allow for accurate comparison between factors. Factors for which a high score would be negative were subtracted from 10 to invert their scoring.

A weighting was then assigned to each factor reflecting its importance within the analysis. The factors, their source and their percentage weightings are as follows:

Once the weightings were assigned, the total score for the factors was calculated, producing an overall index score out of 10 for each entry, upon which the final ranking is based.
