OnFocus: Who is/was your first favorite teacher and why?

Guld: My first favorite teacher was my 4th grade teacher, Ms. Jensen. She started every day with a “morning meeting” where we would take some of the morning talking and playing games. She made learning fun.

Guld: “Don’t Stop”. I never like to have a lot of downtime. I am the friend constantly making plans and planning trips for our friend group.

OnFocus: What sports do you play?

Guld: I play volleyball, softball, and beach volleyball during the summers.

OnFocus: Which teammate would you not want to be stranded with on a deserted island?

Guld: Lily, I think we are both similar in that fact we do not know good survival skills including building a fire and we hate bugs!

OnFocus:  What are some memorable moments you have had as an athlete?

Guld: Some of the most memorable moments I have had as an athlete are starting my first game freshman year on varsity, winning to assumption in a reverse sweep my junior year, and playing my junior and senior years with my best friends on and off the court.

OnFocus:  Who are your favorite athletes and/or teams?

OnFocus: What do you enjoy most about competing in front of family, friends and fans?

Guld: What I enjoy most about competing in front of family, friends, and fans is the energy, support, and adrenaline they give. The feeling in a close match and the thrill of it all. The feeling is unmatched.

OnFocus:  Do you have a funny or unusual moment(s) you have experienced in sports?

Guld: My freshman year, we were playing at marathon. I dove for a ball and crashed my nose into the bleachers right in front of the student section. I had to them play with a cotton swab up my nose the rest of the game to stop the bleeding.

OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete at …

Guld: Being able to take a couple hours each day and get away from school and all the stress and just do what you love to do.

OnFocus:  What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?

Guld: Work hard, but more importantly, have fun, enjoy it, and play every game like it’s your last.

OnFocus: Lastly, pancakes or waffles?

Guld:Waffles for sure!
