Wausau (OnFocus) – The Newman Catholic Cardinals opened their 2021 football season with a bang, scoring 48 first half points in a 48-8 win over Bruce.
Conner Krach completed 7 of 10 passes for 195 yards and 4 touchdowns for Newman. Krach also rushed twice for 52 yards and a score.
First quarter touchdown runs by Thomas Bates of 52 and 14 yards sandwiched touchdown receptions by Bates(70 yards), Jacob Pfiffner(41 yards) and Nathan Klement(36 yards)
Krach connected with Eli Gustafson on a 10 score in the second quarter and also ran for a 40 yard touchdown.
Newman had 297 yards of rushing on 29 carries, led by Bates with 91 yards on 4 carries.
