Newman Volleyball was at the Diocesan Tournament on Saturday 9/16 hosted by McDonell Central in Chippewa Falls.
The field of teams there were all very talented players and many matches had some thrilling volleyball rallies. It was a round robin format so lots of matches for everyone.
Re-Cap is as follows:
vs host McDonell Central. It was a hard fought battle where we worked on running a faster offense and taking care of our first ball contact. Things we had been working on in practice so it was the perfect opportunity to work on executing these skills during a match. We are getting better at multiple skills but fell short to a very talented team that is always well coached. Scores were 17/25 & 17/25
2nd match vs Columbus Catholic. Another hard fight with many exciting big plays and endless pursuit. We came up short again but showed some gritty play though out. Scores were 26/28 & 20/25
3rd match was against Pacelli. A good match showing big swings from both teams. Scores were 25/10 & 25/15
4th match was against Emmanual Lutheran. A physical, quick team that pushed us to a 3rd set but we showed our resilience and were able to outlast them. Scores were 25/19, 24/26, 15/10
Final match was against a young talented Regis team. They have a bright future in front of them and were very competitive throughout the match. We dug deep and persevered after a long day of battles and finished the tournament with a win. Scores were 25/12 & 25/15

Very impressed with the level of play from Newman Catholic and also the other teams in the tournament. Great competition all day which helps us continue to improve.
