Newman Volleyball Defeats Athens, Abbotsford and Chequamegon

The Lady Cards had a triumphant day at the Abbotsford Crossover Saturday. Beating Athens in 2 sets was pivotal for us. We adjusted to their block well and had to play consistent defense to battle their outside attacks.
More adjusting was made taking on Abbotsford. Abby ran a quick offense in every position, and while we have solid blocking skills, we struggled to respond to quick sets at every turn. We were able to find some weaknesses in their serve receive and as a team, totaled 10 aces and a 3-set win.
The last match of the day against Chequamegon gave the Cards another opportunity to serve aggressively. Six players contributed to a team total of 17 aces. Newman took the match in 2 swift sets.
Thanks to Newman assistant coach Ashley Lange for match summaries and stats
