Nike and Kobe Bryant Estate End Shoe Deal

As reported by multiple outlets, Nike and Kobe Bryant’s estate have ended their relationship. After Kobe’s contract with Nike expired on April 13, neither party desired to extend the contract.

A  report from Front Office Sports indicates that Bryant and his estate have both been unhappy about Nike limiting production of Bryant’s shoes after his retirement and since his death.

The Mamba logo that appears on Bryant’s shoes is owned by his estate. The “Sheath” logo, appearing on the shoes’ tongues, is jointly owned by Nike and the estate.

Discussion among Bryant, his estate, and venture capitalists has taken place about developing a “Mamba” brand.
