OnFocus – The Spencer chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace will be hosting multiple volunteer events over the next few months as they build beds for kids who may not have them.
The event will be on April 10th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Quality Roofing in Marshfield.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace Spencer Chapter Co-President Joleen Schade said they will be doing something new this time with using an indoor facility to build the beds.
“Quality Roofing has generously offered us use of their building to complete this build,” Schade said. “One of their employees has been volunteering delivering beds with us and heard we were looking for an indoor site to build. He asked the owners and we will be building there for the first time.”
The charity is a nonprofit organization based out of Twin Falls, Idaho and builds beds for kids ages 3-17. The Spencer chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace serves those in need for 30 miles around Spencer. The chapter has delivered 140 beds since becoming a part of the organization in August 2019.
The crew is in need of a couple of volunteers for the build on April 10th and in need of even more volunteers for their June 12th event. Work includes sanding, drilling, dipping, branding but no experience is required. Building the beds and delivering them to homes are also parts of the event. All tools needed to build the beds will be provided.
Monetary donations are also very important as the materials to make the beds and purchase mattresses and bedding is needed.
