Northland Pines Boys Double up Cumberland

We knew we would have our hands full with having our senior captain midfielder and senior goalie sitting out against regional opponent Cumberland.  We came out strong possessing early and really picking apart their defense with simple 1-2 touch and pass into the channels.  Their keep made a ton of key saves to keep Cumberland in the game. It easily could have been 4-5 nothing in the first 15 minutes. Cumberland rallied behind their strong keeper performance and late in the first half hard whem a cross drew a hand ball in the box for a Pk. Senior striker Cody Vojta low left shot put Pines on the board. Pines let a long throw in get behind them on a missed clear and a break in focus and the first or second shot of the game for Cumberland best sophomore keeper Easton Otto. After all the shots and pressure we went into half tie.  The boys had their heads hanging as if we lost. We reminded them they just need to finish and this is a big game for seeding and their shots need to be low and they need to crash the net.  Cumberland had the kickoff in second half and we.pressed forcing a turnover and went the other way and two minutes  into half slotted the ball to Cody Vojta drilling it low. Pines 2-1.  Sixty minutes in freshman defender Dechlan Favorite stole a pass took two touches and found Cody coming from the sidelines and he ripped a low shot beating the keeper. Pines 3-1.  At that point we started resting some of the starters and 5 minutes later Cody finished with a 4 goal game and solidified the victory.  More players we put on emptying the bench and Cumberland took advantage of the inexperience and miss communication booting the ball in the top left corner. The game would end Pines 4-2. It was.good.tp get the win and all were healthy.
