Northland Pines Soccer Battles with Xavier, Shawano

Pines 2 Xavier 4

Pines 2 Shawano 2
Without our Senior Midfielder the first game Xavier took advantage of that missing component and they came out fast and furious putting pressure on our young d early and the ball found itself in the middle of the box an aggressive defensive 50/50 ball and Xavier forward ends up face down in the turf and earned a pk.  After 3 attempt as he jumped the whistle they scored taking.the early need in less than 10 minutes.  Their second goal was late in the half miss directed pass and their forward blows past finding the back of the net. Pines responded with a slotted ball from Junior Guilherme Amirez Fonsesa to sophomore Sam Schrock composed beat the goalie.  Xavier answered late in the half and half time score 1-3.  Midway into the second half Pines cut into Xavier’s lead when Pines Drew a Pk and senior captain Cody Vojta found the back of the net. 2-3.  Late in the half Cody broke free and was fouled just outside the box earning a yellow card for Xavier and free kick for Pines the keep made a save and the countered.  A tough aggressive 50/50 ball once again found a Xavier play laying.on the turf near the outside of the 18 and after a conference they were awarded a pk and 11 once again finishes.

Pines vs Shawano
We came out possessing early and a pass from Sophomore defensive midfielder Tyler Vojta finds Guilherme who jukes left and takes a left footed shot and curves it in the upper left for a 1-0 lead four minutes in the match.  It seemed we then took our foot off the gas, but cannot blame the boys they had less than twenty minutes between games.  Shawano has speed and talent and a deep bench.  They were able to put out fresh legs and take advantage of our speed finding the back of the net with two through balls wide and ended half with Shawano up a goal 2-1.  At half time I knew we had to lift these boys up.  Shawano was over across the half fired up and had the demeaner that they won the game.  I reminded the boys of a previous year game letting our tired boys know we are not out of it.  Less dribbling and more passing and we will take the game back.  Early in the second half it looked as though we packed it in and we’re willing.to take the loss but after a yellow card called on our defender we started connecting passes and took over the game putting pressure on their d time and time again when finally a failed cleared ball from the consistent pressure landed on senior sweeper Nick BoxRucker who drilled a bomb from 35 yards out through the keepers finger tips for a goal tying the game up  it went back and.forth for the remainder of the game when the best opportunity came when Tyler Vojta took a corner and Tony Gaetano attacked the near post deflecting it off the post. Final 2-2
