Northland Pines Soccer Falls to Mosinee
Tt is starting to look like ground hog day.  The boys play rock solid and a great game only to let a couple of minutes spoil their opportunity to pick up a victory.  We come out of the gate patient on Mosinee possession and wait until they make an error and then dominate possession. less than 4 minutes into the game AJ Muench received a ball from a backside switch of the field, made a move to attack space, and played a nice left-right through ball to a breaking Mason Jahnke who placed a left-footed goal right near post.  The boys then changed the way they played.  We found a weak point in the defense and we did not continue to hit that area.  The half was back and forth and we went into the half with the lead. Mosinee came out on fire but Pine weathered the storm for the first 20 minutes of the half until a miscommunication between the keeper and the defense saw a chipped ball find the back of the net notching the game 1-1.  The boys’ mindset changed and they went into a defensive shell not wanting to lose versus finding any way to win.  In the 76 minutes, miscommunication between defenders left their right forward open getting on the end of a chipped ball and slamming it in the left side of the net.  Pines is down 1-2.  Pines pushed the last 3 minutes putting Mosinee on their heels but the push was too little too late.  The highlight of the day was our ability to possess and string multiple passes something we have not done to date.  We fell short of mounting any type of attack and getting the ball wide to stretch the field.  The biggest highlight of the night was Honoring former coach Larry Favorite.  It was nice to see him as he built up Pines Soccer to be a powerhouse in the GNC.
