Allen Lee Koenig, 83, passed away July 10, 2022 at his home in Ramsey Township Minnesota.
Allen, also known by his nickname “Chum”, will be sorely missed by his family and friends who loved him dearly.
A visitation will be held at Thurston-Lindberg-DeShaw Funeral Home in Anoka Minnesota, Tuesday, July 19, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, July 21, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield, WI where a visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time of service. Rev. Daniel Thelan will officiate. The service will be live streamed at 10:00am www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield, where military rites will be conducted. Allen’s children and surviving brothers will serve as pallbearers. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family in Marshfield.
Allen was born in Marshfield on January 14, 1939 to Victor and Lucille (Lee) Koenig. He attended St. John’s Elementary School and graduated from Columbus High School in 1957. After his education he worked in Florida and Alaska and served in the Army from 1962 thru 1964. Allen then moved to Minnesota where he was a land developer as well as owner and operator of an insulation company until his retirement.
Allen married Alice Mae Gauger on June 18, 1966. Alice passed away on June 24, 2001.
He is survived by son Benjamin (Holly) Koenig of Kansas City, MO and daughter Kelly (George) Coupe of San Jose CA. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Chase Koenig, Kevin Koenig, Alexander Coupe and Daniel Coupe. He is further survived by a sister, Kathryn Kramer of Stockton CA, and four brothers, Robert (Kait) Koenig of Tumwater WA, Gerard (Dannilee) Koenig of Anchorage AK, Michael (Kathryn Thuerer) Koenig of Tucson AZ and Timothy (Betsy Magby) Koenig of North Mankato, MN.
In addition to his wife, Allen was predeceased by his parents and brothers James and Daniel.
We would like to thank Al’s neighbors Mark and Judy Senogles and the staff at the St. Cloud Minnesota VA Medical Facility who were a great help to Al in recent years.
