Obituary for Arlene Sternweis

Arlene A. Sternweis, 89, Marshfield, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Wells Nature View.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield with visitation from 9:30 am until service time. Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Arlene was born on October 11, 1934 in the Town of Lincoln, Wood County, to Lyman and Eleanor (Brandt) Tremelling. She was united in marriage to Aloysius Sternweis on July 28, 1953 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Marshfield.

Arlene was a stay-at-home mom, raising 5 children. She sold Stanley Home products, eventually went to work as the baker at Columbus High School, then to Super America to manage the deli, and then Marshfield extension of the University to manage the kitchen.

She loved having her family home and cooking for them – especially during holidays. She also enjoyed quilting, crafting, shopping, and casino trips with her husband.

She is survived by her husband, Al, children, Michael (friend Dawn Bloom) Sternweis of Appleton, Dennis Sternweis of Marshfield, Barbara (Dan) Weiland of Wisconsin Rapids, and Douglas (Chimene) Sternweis of Cabot, AR, daughter in law, Jayne Mueller-Sternweis of Marshfield, 7 grandchildren, Sue (Jason) Brown, Scott (Melissa) Sternweis, Eric (Tanya) Weiland, Dakota Sternweis, Mason Sternweis, Christina (Travis) Shayla’s, Lindsey (Dave) Moore, and 6 great grandchildren, Marshall, Lenore, Meera, Reed, Dillon, Carter, and Lennox.

She is further survived by her brothers, Donald Tremelling and James (Nancy) Tremelling, both of Marshfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Jerome Sternweis, and daughter in law, Sandra Sternweis.

The family would like to thank Wells Nature View and St. Croix Hospice for their wonderful care of Arlene.
