A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 12:30 pm until service time. Deacon Ray Draeger will officiate and military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1866, following the service.

Arthur was born on July 13, 1944, in Marshfield, to Wesley and Lorraine (Eckes) Schar, and was a 1963 graduate of Marshfield High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam War from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1969. He married Sharon A. Giese on April 8, 1972, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Sigel, Wisconsin.

Art had been employed as an auto body mechanic at V & H Automotive in Marshfield for 32 years until his retirement.

Art was a true outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He was a faithful member of the Sportsman’s Club. More than anything though, he loved his family and grandchildren. His grandchildren were his world.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, and their three sons, Brian (Tawnya) Schar and Chad (Rebecca) Schar, all of Marshfield, and Wesley (Wanda) Schar of LaCrosse. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Michaela, Brandon, Madison, Raddley, Reign, Trystan, Ivory and Evan. He is further survived by his sisters and brothers, Shirley (Mike) Dupee of Arpin, Thomas (Sue) Schar of Marshfield, Cheryl Ann (Tom) Casper of Wisconsin Rapids, Terry (Sally) Schar of Tony, Michael (Peggy) Schar of Arpin, Wayne (Debbie) Schar of Marshfield, Cynthia (Rick) Rennhack of Marshfield and a sister-in-law Deb (Berg) Schar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Patrick Schar and a nephew Ben Schar.
