Bernard C. Huser, 88, Stratford, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church, Stratford, where a gathering for family and friends will be from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Andrea Fluegel will officiate.The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery on Highway 97, Stratford, where military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6352 of Stratford. Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Bernard Casper Huser was born on March 26, 1934 in Altdorf, Wisconsin, to Casper and Cecelia (Kelly) Huser and was a 1952 graduate of Maryheart High School in Pittsville. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War from April 21, 1954 until his honorable discharge on April 20, 1956. He then attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison where he graduated with a degree in accounting in 1961. He was a member of the Beta Alpha Psi Honorary Accounting Society.
Bernie earned his Certified Public Accounting Certificate and established his own accounting firm in Kenosha known as Bernard C. Huser, CPA. He retired in 1992.
While in Kenosha he served as president of the Kenosha County Library Board and the Milwaukee Serra Club, a Catholic men’s group dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood. He was also a volunteer member of the Kenosha Band Boosters Club.
Bernie was an avid Packer, Brewer, Bucks and Badger fan. In later years he loved going for car rides to look for deer and wildlife, watching the birds, and watching a red fox build a den in the backyard and raise six kits and that fox returned year after year for years of enjoyment.
He married Carmella Ciotti in 1959 and they raised four children. They later divorced. He married Jean E. Roth Schraeder in 2001.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Jean and his children, Joan (Saul Altabet) Huser, Therese Huser, Susan (Kerren Smith) Huser and Patrick (Sandy Elvekrog) Huser, 12 grandchildren, three stepchildren, Bev Schraeder, Duane (Lisa) Schraeder and Darrel (Carol) Schraeder, nine step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren, a sister Patricia Ciotti and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mary (Elmer) Horn, Sister Marie Cecile Huser, SSND, and Rose (Ron) Ebacher, a stepdaughter Yvonne Knauf and a step grandson Corey Joswiak.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ateek Rehman and the amazing nurses on 6 North at Marshfield Medical Center who provided such wonderful compassionate care not only to Bernie but to the family as well. You are all truly angels on earth.
