Betty Lou Dickson, 87, joined the choir of angels singing Jesus Loves Me at about 12:05 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022 succumbing to multiple medical issues after a brief enrollment in hospice care.
Betty was born on February 21st, a cold February morning in 1935 at the Dickson family farm just west of Pittsville, WI, the home of her parents, John and Myrtle Dickson. As a teen, Betty required care and support beyond what was available at home and spent her teen and adult years living in a succession of assisted living facilities, many in Waupaca County. Betty was employed at Waupaca County Industries and lived several years at Hillcrest and Strong Haven Group Homes. For the last 10 years she resided at Whistling Pines in Waupaca.
She is survived by her brother Forest Dickson, Jerseyville, IL and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrtle Dickson, siblings, Wilbur, Glen, Chuck, Muriel VanDan, Harris, Reba McDonald, Clara Herzberg, Helen Lippert, Lila Joneson, June Folz, and Fern Schwanebeck.
Betty Lou loved the Lord and was always interested in talking about her faith. She was well loved by her family and those who cared for her. Miss Betty will be greatly missed by her “family” of caregivers and other residents at Whistling Pines. We are grateful to all of them for giving her quality of life and to all who cared for Betty Lou over the years including the staff from Theda Care Hospice.
The funeral service will be held at Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home in Pittsville on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 10:30 am with visitation from 9:30 am until the service, which will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralshomes. Burial will take place at Mound Cemetery, Pittsville.
