Betty M. Moede, 90, Hewitt, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, with Rev. Dean Pingel officiating. The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Entombment will take place in McMillan Memorial Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum, Town of McMillan, Marathon County, and her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held from 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
Betty was born on May 8, 1931 in Shawano, Wisconsin, the daughter of William and Linda (Steffin) Martzke. She attended Stoney Hill School, Shawano, and was a graduate of Shawano High School. She was united in marriage to Gordon G. Moede on September 29, 1951 in Shawano. He died November 7, 2007.
After their marriage Betty and her husband farmed in the Town of Lynn, Clark County. She later was employed at Weyerhaeuser Company, Marshfield, for 27 years.
Betty enjoyed gardening, taking trips, word searches, going to the cabin, and playing games and cards “by grandma’s rules.”
She is survived by her children, Penny (Peter) Droste of Wisconsin Rapids, Peggy (Dan) Montag of Nekoosa, Patty (Jim Zabawa) Bartlett of Nekoosa, Polly Meddaugh of Wisconsin Rapids, Gale (Susan) Moede of Hewitt and Greg Moede of Park Falls. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Chad (Stacy) Droste, Cindy (Jo) Krohn, Cheryl (Rob Lawe) Krohn, Bradley Sweet, Kyle Sweet (Sabrina), Jeremiah Bartlett, Zachary (Jacci) Bartlett, Shane (Amy) Scheel, Ashley (Chris) Nelson, Olivia (Daniel) Digatono, Erika (Matthew) Connell, Melissa (Justin) Beckwith, Chelsea (Jared) Carolfi, Trenton Moede, Travis (Jenna) Moede, and Tyler Moede. She is further survived by 16 great grandchildren, Anika, Nathan, and Destiny Droste, Kristen and Aaron Lawe, Dakota and Darren Krohn, Elijah and Landon Scheel, Penelope Sweet, Isaac and Matthew Moede, Zoey Bartlett, and Francesca, Dane, and Thomas Digatono, and 1 great great grandson, Rylan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son, Glenn Moede and a sister, Dolores Kroenke.
The family will designate a memorial in Betty’s name at a later date.
