Obituary for Bob Bushman

Robert A. “Bob” Bushman, age 80, Marshfield, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family.

The visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, and from 9:00 am until service time at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield. Rev. Barry Saylor will officiate.

Bob was born at home in Sherry, Wisconsin, on January 12, 1944, to Ambrose and Virgene (Mews) Bushman, and was a 1961 graduate of Columbus High School. He was united in marriage to Cheryl G. Jansen on August 27, 1966, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield.

He enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard and served for six years, earning expert marksman in rifle shooting.

Bob was employed at American Can Company in Milwaukee for 15 years. In 1979 he returned to Marshfield and he and Cheryl purchased the Country Bumpkin in Bakerville. He then went on to be a service technician / manager at Great Plains Gas Company (Amerigas). After his retirement on June 1, 2004, he continued to work part time where he was employed at Legends Golf and Riveredge Golf Course. He also worked seasonally at Figi’s as a truck driver. He then went on to work at Schierl Tire and Service as a shuttle driver, for the last five years, at which his daughter Jodi was his boss, and then he worked at Home Bar and Grill in Edgar, for three years, which his granddaughter, Ashley owns.

In his spare time, he loved bowling, snowmobiling, and mostly his love was his golf game!

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cheryl, and their children, Jodi (David Jacoby), and Chad. He leaves behind five grandchildren, Ashley, Zack (Courtney Murphy), Aaron, Josh and Isaella (Tyler) Hansen, and two great grandchildren, Liam and Ember. He is also survived by siblings, Beverly Stoflet, Nancy (Gene) Hill, Bonnie Gripentrog, David (Diane) Bushman, Darwin (Konny) Bushman, and Sandy (John) Bilgrien.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amber and Jean Bushman, his in-laws, Peter and Violet Schmidt, brother-in-law, Jon Gripentrog, nephews, Aaron Gripentrog and Trai Whetstone, and a niece, Gina Hill.

Special thanks to Compassus Hospice, especially Tiffany and Mariah, for Bob’s care. Also, a special thanks to his family, Ashley, Courtney, Zack, and Jodi for their special care.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established at a later date.
