Cathryn Ann Thill “Kay” (née Kocourek), age 95, resident at Stoney River Memory Care for the past year, died Friday, January 29, 2021, at Marshfield Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at 11:00 am with Father Robertson officiating. A visitation will occur an hour before the service at the church from 10-11 am. The service will be live-streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Kay Thill was born January 10, 1926, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN to John “Jack” Kocourek and Florence (Youngmann) Kocourek. She graduated high school at St. Joseph’s Academy in St. Paul, MN in 1943. After graduation, she worked for Northwest Airlines and for a local medical office in St. Paul. Cathryn married Lawrence Thill on April 7, 1951, in St. Paul, MN.  They later moved to La Crosse, Merrill, and finally Marshfield in 1964. Lawrence passed away on December 21, 2005.

She was an active member at Our Lady of Peace Church in various capacities.  She also volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul, and enjoyed sketching and drawing. She was a woman of poise, a gentle kind soul, a prayer warrior, a patient and loving mother, a devoted wife, and a loyal friend.

She is survived by her children: Michael Thill of Marshfield, Barbara (Mark) Hampel of Plymouth, MN, Patrick Thill of Marshfield, Robert (Jayne) Thill of Marshfield, Margaret (Terence) McCormick of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren: Stephanie (Krist) Olson, Ryan (Caitlin) Thill, Katie (Logan) Grapp, Meena Thill; stepgrandchildren Morgan Hampel and Erica Karasov; great-grandchildren Fia and Teddy Olson, Layla and Eddie Grapp, and Ruby Thill. She is further survived by her brother, James Kocourek of St. Paul, MN.

Cathryn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, John “Jack” Kocourek Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Vincent de Paul in Marshfield.
