Charles “Chuck” Allen Ortner, 59 of Milwaukee, WI passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Chuck was born on February 9, 1962, in Independence, IA to Ronald and Lucille (Nilles) Ortner where he and his siblings grew up together until the family moved and settled in Willard, WI.

Chuck was a graduate of Greenwood High School, Class of 1980. He was a project manager at Vesel Services of Caledonia, WI and served as a carpenter for over 20 years. He was a jack of all trades kind of worker and had the most amazing work ethic. It’s hard to find a building in the Stratford area that he didn’t have a hand in working on. He absolutely loved what he did every day.

It was during the Cincinnati Bengals/San Franciso 49’ers Super Bowl game at Rock Dam where he met Sherri Landwehr. They then got married in July of 1983 and had two children, Cassandra and Cody. They were married for 30 years and later divorced in 2013.

Chuck loved spending time with family and friends, watching Wisconsin Sports teams, deer hunting in the fall, took numerous trips to Canada and out west for fishing and hunting, playing in bowling, pool, and dart leagues, and helping anyone that needed it. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was always out to have fun with the ones he loved and cared about. He lived his life on his own terms.

He is survived by his two children, Cassandra (Brett) Ortner of Knowlton, WI and Cody Ortner of Greenfield, WI; his mother Lucille (Dick) Ortner of Marshfield, WI, his siblings Cindy Pierson of Zearing, IA: Rita (Chuck) Steffen of Willard, WI, Ken Ortner of Martel, WI, Joe (Deb) Ortner of Greenwood, WI, Jim (Lori) Ortner of Dalton, WI, Mike (April) Ortner of Green Bay, WI, Sue (Terry) Ortner of Spirit Lake, IA, Sandra (Mike) Shaw of Spencer, WI, Bob (Jen) Ortner of Spring Valley, WI, Dave (Shena) Ortner of Neillsville, WI and many nieces and nephews, as well as many wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Ortner and brother, Daniel Ortner.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield where visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time. A Celebration of Life will be held after services.
