Darrell P. “Tony” Brantner, 99, Marshfield, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022 at Abbotsford Health Care Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. James Weighner officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. The visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Monday at Rembs Funeral Home and from 9:30 am until service on Tuesday at St. John’s Catholic Church.
Tony was born on January 4, 1923 to Anton and Lena (Rottscheit) Brantner. He was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. He married Ruby Lukes in 1953 and they had a son Jim and a daughter Roxanne. Ruby had three sons from a previous marriage.
After their marriage Tony worked several jobs at the same time. A Jukebox route, tending bar at Jane’s Lanes, anything he could to provide for his family. Some of his working career was for General Telephone and the lastly in the shipping and receiving department at St. Joseph’s Hospital until his retirement.
Tony had a love of cars, always tinkering with engines and transmissions. We can remember him cruising around in his Triumph convertible with his beret on his head! He also enjoyed flying RC planes. He was a very devout member of St. John’s Parish in Marshfield.
Tony is survived by his son Jim of Phillips, his daughter Roxanne (Robert) Scidmore of Foley, Alabama and a stepson Mike Ericson of Hinkley, MN. He also has a special grandson Zachary (Ashley) Brantner of San Rafael, CA and two great grandsons, Wilder and Weston who mean so much to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruby and two stepsons, Dale and Gary Ericson.
