Obituary for Dennis Juncer

Dennis Albert Juncer, age 76, of Marshfield, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at House of the Dove, Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, where a visitation will be from 8:30 am until service time. Rev. Daniel Williams will officiate. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes.  Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date and his grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54 at St. John’s Church following the service.

Dennis was born on September 1, 1946, in Medford, WI, along with his twin brother, David, to Adolph and Mildred (Kravontka) Juncer, and was a 1964 graduate of Waukegan Township High School. He married Ann T. McGrath on December 19, 1970, in Gibson City, IL.

He attended the University of Illinois, Urbana where he received his bachelor’s degree in communications in 1972. He obtained a Juris Doctorate degree in 1979 from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL.

Dennis enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1966 until 1969 including a tour in Vietnam. He re-enlisted and served as an officer from 1972 – 1976. He was stationed in Germany from 1972 until 1975. He enjoyed living and reliving his service days.

Dennis worked as an attorney in Marshfield for 31 years and was the city attorney from 1995 until 2004. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, serving as board president, the American Legion Post 54, the American Legion Wisconsin where he was Judge Advocate, the Noon Rotary Club of which he was past president, the Marshfield Eagles Club, the Central Wisconsin Sportsman’s Club, Central Wisconsin Tea Party of which he was a founding member and president, the Wood County Republican Party, and he ran for State Assembly in 2006.

He especially enjoyed discussing politics, playing pool, tending the raspberry patch, watching movies, reading, fishing, visiting extended family and traveling.

He is survived by his wife Ann, and their daughters, Elizabeth Ott of Kaukauna, Katherine Maidment of Calabasas, CA, Margaret Juncer of Wisconsin Rapids and Susan Juncer of Madison. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Natalie Pyburn, Garrett Ott, Gavin Ott, Kaitlyn Pyburn, Emily Pyburn, Allison Ott, and Amelia Maidment. He is further survived by siblings, Nadine (John) Kawa of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Walter (Cathy) Juncer, of Howard, WI, Christine (Rick) Christoffel of Davenport, FL, a brother-in-law, John McGrath, sisters-in-law, Mary (Dennis Lewis) McGrath, Jane (Joe) Sommer and Donna Juncer and aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, David, brother, Joseph, son-in-law, Scott Ott, parents-in-law, Francis, and Loretta McGrath.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 54, Rotary International or Catholic Medical Mission Board.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the patient care staff at House of the Dove, 6th floor, and 4th floor of Marshfield Clinic Health Systems Hospital.
