Donald G Grutzik went home to be with the Lord on July 30th, 2024 at the age of 71. He was surrounded by his children at The House of the Dove in Marshfield, WI.

Donny was born the second son of seven children to Felix and Lena Grutzik (Palienco) in Marshfield, WI.  He attended City Point School through 5th grade and was a 1971 graduate of Pittsville High School.  He grew up as the fourth generation working on the family farm, milking cows, pulling sphagnum moss, cutting pulp wood, and working on cranberry marshes.  After school he worked in several construction trades including Harvestore silos, pole buildings, home building and remodeling, heavy equipment, and as a construction wireman and purchasing agent in electrical contracting.  He was especially talented as an excavator operator and was at home at the controls of a Cat.  He enjoyed hunting, golfing, snowmobiling, playing cards, high school sports, watching westerns, and spending time with family and friends.

Donny is survived by his three children; Matt (Rebekah) Grutzik of Cincinnati, OH, Dustin (Jennifer) Grutzik of Florence, AL, and Amy Vargas of Raleigh, NC, six grandchildren, Caitlyn Grutzik, Paris LaFuente, Judson Grutzik, Levi Grutzik, Elena Grutzik, and Lincoln Grutzik, his six siblings: Felix (Margaret) Grutzik Jr of Junction City, WI; Marcia (Dave) Zellner of Winnebago, IL; Mary (Mark) Anderson of Pittsville, WI; Brenda (Dave) Myre of Rice Lake, WI; Dennis Grutzik of Wausau, WI; and Tim (Martha Miller) Grutzik of Minneapolis, MN.  He was preceded in death by his parents Felix and Lena Grutzik.

We would like to extend deep thank you to all that cared for him and counted him as a friend or treated him like family.  He had an incredible work ethic and he was blessed to work for and with many great people.  Donny had a personal faith in Jesus throughout his life and drew much closer in his battle with cancer.  His strength and toughness were extraordinary.

We will celebrate Donny’s life on August 4th, 2024.  A visitation will be from 2-4pm at City Point Community Church followed by a funeral service at 4pm officiated by Pastor Fred Parker Jr.  A meal will follow at City Point Community Center at 5pm.

Dad would prefer donations in lieu of flowers to be made to City Point Community Church or Pittsville Athletic Boosters.
